This gorgeous cartoon portrait of Camisha is by Samax, who is the artist behind Ghetto Manga.  I absolutely love his art work.  "Samax Amen is a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. I love this digital painting of my portrait by artist Alejandra!  The details are amazing. I love my eyes and I love how she made my loc's a little fuzzy. Very realistic. Great work! Zena Carlota Pearl Allen is a self-taught artist who currently resides in the Bay area. In 2010, she began creating drawings for the first time in 13 years informed by Mithila art: a folkloric painting tradition of Indian and Nepalese women. She is deeply inspired by her personal research of folklore, oral histories, and the iconic imagery she encountered while living in East and West Africa as a teacher and student, respectively. Studying the music and storytelling tradition of “Jaliyaa” as a kora player (West African harp) for the past six years has placed her on a journey that is a natural progression to apply in her own art the same themes of ritual and tradition found in West African music. ABOUT ONE BROWN CRAFTER 
One Brown Crafter is a blog that was created 19 months ago by illustrator, recycling crafter, and DIY expert Tracy Viverretta, to give voice to culturally diverse artists and crafters by showcasing their work. OBC was also created to share art related resources and information, establish a positive, uplifting creative community and to celebrate cultural diversity. The name of the blog came about as a result of Tracy participating in various craft fairs and being the “one brown crafter”. After constantly wondering where all the other artists and crafters of color were and why they weren't at these fairs, she created the blog to seek them out so she could showcase their work and establish a creative community.
ABOUT THE 2013 "NATURAL HAIR ART PROJECT"
Spawned by a love of natural hair, Tracy created the "Natural Hair Art Project", which is a reflection of that love. So every Friday for 52 Fridays, she shows a new piece of artwork that could be an illustration, collage, textile painting, embroidery, hand lettering, plush doll or any number of crafty projects - all related to natural hair.
